Review:
I am not usually a huge fan of sport tropes, but Carrie Soto is the exception! This narrative jumps between Carrie's past & present. It follows her path to becoming a professional tennis player who eventually holds the most grand slams. When her legacy is challenged by a younger player, the book develops into a thrilling comeback story.
This book is interesting because it doesn't just follow the career path of a tennis player. We also see a dynamic and challenging relationship between Carrie and her father, who coaches her during most of her career. Carrie also goes in and out of multiple relationships throughout this book. By the end of the book we see her make the choice to value her relationships with people over the endless fight to keep her legacy. This is a "booktok" recommendation that I am glad I read. P.S. Taylor Jenkins Reid novels always have fun cameos from her other books. Carrie Soto & some of the other characters in this are mentioned in other other Taylor Jenkins Reid books.
Recipe:
We HAD to include Pimm's Cup as our book bite for this one. This is a classic Wimbledon drink. Enjoy by yourself or with friends as you dive into the world of tennis with Carrie Soto.
